Those who gave their lives from Yarm ______________________________________

HOLT, Robert Bertram. Rfm C/12075 21st King's Royal Rifle Corps.

Return to Yarm Roll Call

The following was taken from the Yorkshire Regiment website

Killed in action 17 Sep 1916 France & Flanders. Born at Stainton, Yorks and enlisted at Stockton while living at Yarm

Yarm1914 believe that Robert was born in 1896. His father William Warner Holt was a farmer and at the age of 34 married Emma Isabella Scott aged 29 on 16 May 1893 in Whitney near Hexham. The family was started at Ingleby Hill Farm, Ingleby Barwick when twins Hilda A and William S were born in 1894. The Holts were wealthy enough to have a servant Thomas Smith. In 1911 they had moved to a nine roomed house in East Worsall and his father and elder brother worked on the farm with Robert Raby. Mary Robson was the servant helping with housekeeping. Robert was still a student then but when he signed up on 27 October 1915 he described himself as a farmer.
